Abchurch team member named Young Communicator of the Year

16 September 2008

Gareth Mead of Abchurch Communications, one of the UK’s leading financial, corporate and investor communications consultancies, has been named Outstanding Young Communicator of the Year at the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Excellence Awards 2008.

The Excellence Awards recognise and reward best practice in public relations throughout the UK and acknowledge personal and team achievement at the highest professional level.

The winners were announced at the Excellence Awards Diamond Dinner at The London Hilton, Park Lane on Monday 15 September. The compère for the evening was Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Channel 4 News Anchor.

The Outstanding Young Communicator award recognises the excellent work of young professionals under the age of 30 in all areas of public relations, who make a valuable contribution to the organisations they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry.

CIPR President Elisabeth Lewis-Jones said: “Only the cream of the PR industry receives a CIPR Excellence Award, which recognises the vital contribution PR makes to business and society. With the quality of entries improving year-on-year, this year’s winners faced the stiffest competition to-date to rise to the top. This is a fantastic achievement and Gareth is to be congratulated.”

Gareth Mead, Account Director at Abchurch, said: “I am delighted to have been given this accolade. To be recognised by the industry is a tremendous honour and a testament to the investment that Abchurch makes in its people.”

Abchurch Chief Executive, Julian Bosdet, said: “Gareth has enjoyed the Abchurch ethos of skills development and training to the full and this wonderful award demonstrates what is achievable. We are all delighted for him.”
